Sebastian David shows us his photos of "near naked grape crushing" during a recent Wine Tour visit to St Nicolas de Bourgeuil! Visits that inspire some of of guests to write poetry. Here is a recent poem by John and Nancy from North Carolina USA that I would like to share with you.
“The chateaux and abbeys and all that we’ve seen The vineyards and caves and rivers between Jean Charles introduced us to a world unknown Sebastian made us wish to make it our own Humble’s all lady the most gracious of hosts While Willow’s all rotten and so loves to boast Wacky Jackie is awesome..... The fungus elite His mushroom tour simply cannot be beat The cuisine was astounding but don’t tell my mom Nothing compares to the Antoinne bomb Although we’ve learned much we’ve only just begun Our leisurely visit has surely been fun All these experiences injested thanks to Micaela and Sue ‘Til we’re welcomed again we bid you adieu...”-

If you have not seen photos of the underground pigeon tower before then here is one we took recently from the ground level showing the decent below about 20 feet!! It is an amazingly well preserved structure for it's age and pretty unique in the Loire Valley.
I've been growing mushrooms in the cave recently and tonight we tasted the first crop in a mushroom and pesto risotto. Yum it was delicious and the garlic, shallots and basil were all grown in our potager too so it was really fresh and all organic. You can't get much more local that this and you can really taste the difference!
