Experience the romance of the majestic Loire River.  We spend the morning wine tasting at the sparkling wine houses near Saumur (Bouvet Laduaby, Veuve Amiot or Langlois Chateau) before taking a delicious picnic along the river banks of the Loire.

In the afternoon we sail from the pretty port of Le Thoureil on an authentic Loire Wooden Boat. Enjoy an aperitif as we glide past the riverside villages spotting bird & wildlife along the way. You will get to see hidden corners of the Loire not usually accessible by road.

The Loire Valley Vineyard's first off-road wine tour is brought to you by La Grande Maison. Only for those with a true sense of adventure and not for the faint hearted. We discover the vineyards & hidden wineries of the Loire region with an experienced bi-lingual wine guide in our 4x4 Land Rover Defender.

We go off-road and onto the trails and tracks through the vines. Along the way we discover the viticulture of the area, learn about grape varieties and the difference between organic, biodynamic and natural wines.

We stop off at some of the best wineries, meet the winemakers and taste the wines. There is even an opportunity to buy the wines at cellar door prices.

Ready for lunch and we simply pull over and set up our legendary vineyard picnic in the vines, a cork screw always on hand to open a chilled bottle of Saumur Blanc or Saumur Champigny. The Wild Vines Wine and Boat Safari incorporates a 1/2 day off road wine tour, vineyard picnic and then a fabulous sail on the Loire aboard a traditional wooden boat in the afternoon.

ECO RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL ARRIVE BY TRAIN WE COLLECT AND WINERY TOUR ON FOOT 

From September to the end of October we will be hosting a series of Loire Harvest Wine Tours to celebrate the 2026 vintage. There is no better time of the year than to come on a wine tour than during the harvest. Get to see the harvest up close in the vineyards, see the hand picking and machine harvesting and watch the grapes being delivered directly to the chais for pressing (for the whites) and for maceration (for the reds). If we are lucky we might also get to see the harvest by horse or the hand picking of the late harvest wines for the Coteaux du Layon, Bonnezeaux or Quart des Chaumes. You will learn about maturation and even get to taste the grapes on the vine for yourselves.
